Did they hear us?

Remember when I wrote about contacting your representative to tell them to vote “NO” for the re-authorization of the Patriot Act? Well, it was defeated! The Patriot Act was shot down!! However, big government does not give up easily and it never enjoys watching power squeeze past its fat fingers.

Last Tuesday, the U.S. House DEFEATED legislation to extend three of the so-called “PATRIOT” Act’s controversial provisions.

Because the bill was put on the “Suspension Calendar,” it needed 290 votes to pass.

Thanks to the quick action of true Patriots, however, the vote failed 277-148.

Remember that the legislation was expected to easily pass. Don’t let anyone ever tell you it’s hopeless to fight for your freedoms.

All of the Virginia U.S. Representatives voted the wrong way, except Democrat Rep. Bobby Scott.

Republican Whip Eric Cantor vowed to turn over a new leaf and listen to “we the people.” But as expected, he once again let us down and voted the wrong way (for the extension).

So once again, please stand up for liberty(and for your privacy) and contact your representative to tell them to vote “NO” on re-authorizing the Patriot Act. Can’t they get the message that the American people want nothing to do with selling their liberties away for the sake of “security?” Our “Caesar” has no right to declare our privacy his. Rendering the sanctity of the privacy of our lives to Caesar is NOT right and don’t let anyone tell you it is.

Contact your representative using the information from this link and remind them of their oath to uphold the Constitution. Urge them to put the American People’s rights before the surveillance state’s power by rejecting the “PATRIOT” Act on every vote.
